By Multiplex, and bred by Mickley Stud, DIAMOND LADY won the Lyons O'Neill Fillies' Handicap over 6f at Lingfield tonight for trainer William Stone. She relished the strong gallop set by a speedy front-runner, and settled well, within striking distance of the leader. Starting her challenge 2f out, she made the race her own inside the final furlong, winning by nearly 2 lengths, under an excellent ride from Adam Beschizza. Diamond Lady is a previous C&D winner and was coming back off a five-month break to record her sixth career win.
The 4yo gelding Billy Roberts, sired by Multiplex, earned his fourth career win at Pontefract today, beating 13 rivals to win the ROA/Racing Post Owners Jackpot Handicap over a mile. He broke well from his wide draw and got a position tracking the pace, then took over early in the straight and saw it out well. He will hopefully progress now the Richard Guest yard is clear of a virus which was affecting his horses.
Multiplex filly GET EVEN won a decent 2yo Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton today, earning a Plus 10 bonus for connections in the process. It would be no surprise to see plenty of winners coming out of this race. Bred by Mickley Stud and still part-owned b Richard Kent, GET EVEN had been an eye-catching second on her debut in France last month over less than 5f when beaten less than 2l. The experience was not lost on her as she was given a paint-scraping ride, settling just off the pace and getting the split when it mattered off the final bend. She showed a nice attitude and we are all delighted with her.
A great run of winners for Multiplex continued as STARPLEX, making his handicap debut following an absence, won the Perfect Partnerships Handicap Hurdle at Newcastle for trainer Keith Dalgleish by four lengths. Having tracked the pace, he quickened nicely and should be winning again this spring. Well done to connections.
