  • Sale-Topper at Goffs!

Topping the second day of trade at Goffs yesterday was the nine-year-old mare Legacy Gold, offered by Mickley Stud’s National Hunt arm, Hurst Farm, on behalf of Roger Brookhouse. She was knocked down for £100,000, and is destined to become a National Hunt broodmare. Winner of the Listed mares’ bumper at Aintree, she went on to become a three-time hurdle winner, and was third to Vroum Vroum Mag in the Gr.1 David Nicholson Mares Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Vendor Richard Kent was sorry to see her go but said “She is a beautiful mare and I would have loved to have taken her home and covered her by Yorgunnabelucky, but she met her reserve and I wish the best of luck to her new owner.”

  • December Foal Sale Successes!

We enjoyed some excellent trading at Tattersalls December Foal Sale 2016 this week! A Charm Spirit filly, out of a Rainbow Quest mare, was bought by Salcey Forest Stud for 85,000gns. Yeomanstown Stud obviously liked the look of the stock we consigned, taking home a colt by Garswood, which made 70,000gns, a Lethal Force colt out of a Danehill mare for 50,000gns, and the top-priced lot by our newest stallion, Heeraat, a filly out of an Exceed And Excel mare, making 38,000gns. Other sales included a Havana Gold colt for 37,000gns and a Heeraat colt foal which made 20,000gns.

  • Heeraat Foal Goes for 38,000gns

Top priced foal from Heeraat at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale was this fine specimen of a colt out of an Exceed And Excel mare, which made 38,000gns and goes to Yeomanstown Stud. They also purchased another couple of foals we consigned for 70,000gns and 50,000gns.

  • Charm Spirit Filly Sells for 85,000gns

This Charm Spirit filly, out of Bijou A Moi, a Rainbow Quest mare, was consigned to the Tattersalls December Foal Sale by Mickley Stud and was bought by Salcey Forest Stud for 85,000gns. She looks the part and we think she was well worth that!

  • Star of Tomorrow Makes €42,000

A prize-winning 3yo Kayf Tara filly out of Celtic Native was sold at Tattersalls Ireland Derby National Hunt Sale yesterday. Bred by Mickley Stud in partnership with Devon-based Peter and Jill Emery, who won ten races under National Hunt rules with the mare, a daughter of Be My Native. As a foal, the filly won one of the four classes at the inaugural TBA National Hunt ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ Foal Show in 2013.
