Aberama Gold wins the Stewards Cup!!!
What a Legend! What an amazing result for us to have bred the winner of the Stewards Cup in partnership with the Late Joy McMahon, who I’m sure is looking down with a great big smile! ABERAMA GOLD, under a 6lb penalty, made it 2 from 3 for the David O’Meara yard with an effort that was on a par with the pick of his form in 2021. A previous winner on heavy ground, the 6yo Heeraat gelding travelled strongly in the conditions and responded well to pressure in the closing stages.
The son of Heeraat was bred by Mrs J McMahon and sold by Mickley Stud to Bobby O’Ryan at the November Foal Sale. Many congratulations to owner Evan Sutherland, David O’Meara, and rider Andrea Atzeni, soon to take up an opportunity in Hong Kong.
