Captain Gerrard 2yo Dream Team won the 32Red Nursery Handicap at Newcastle Racecourse yesterday for Michael Dods, ridden by Paul Mulrennan. The gelding ran a sound race over 7f there last time and, trying a mile for the first time, he built on that, winning well despite having fought for his head early on. He is out of a 5f winner, but he obviously needs more of a trip, and there should be more to come from him over a mile and beyond.
