STALLION OVERVIEW

Hungerford Stakes winner MASSAAT joined us at Mickley Stud from 2019, in a deal brokered by John Walsh Bloodstock.

MASSAAT was a classy performer who competed at the highest level at two, three and four years of age. He has produced quality offspring with great conformation, wonderful, calm temperaments, and sensible mindsets. Good bone structures with agility and fluidity. His foals have been well received by the market, and it has ben great to see them mature and gain success on the racecourse.

His best offspring so far have been:

  • Docklands –  winner of 4 races, including the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes in 2025 and the Britannia Stakes in 2023, both at Royal Ascot, with earnings of £1,039,913
  • Queues Likely – won 5 races and 2nd in the German 1000 Guineas; sold for £240,000 to go to Australia
  • Coco Jamboo – Won 3 races in the UK then sold for 160,000gns to race in Australia, where he won a Group 3

A son of TEOFILO, who was the undefeated Champion European 2YO of his generation, MASSAAT broke his maiden at the second time of asking when winning by almost four lengths at Leicester. On Massaat's third and final juvenile start, he finished second in the Dewhurst Stakes.

He also finished second in the 2,000 Guineas to Galileo Gold on his seasonal return, with the likes of Ribchester, Air Force Blue and Marcel in behind.

His career-best run came at four, winning the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury, for which he earned a Racing Post Rating of 118. He then finished third to Ribchester in the Prix du Moulin, and signed off his racing career when second to Limato in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes at Newmarket.

Bred and raced by Shadwell Estates, Massaat is a half brother to two Stakes winners. EQTIDAAR, winner of the Gr.1 Commonweath Cup at Royal Ascot and now a stallion in his own right, and MUJBAR, who won the Gr.3 Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury in 2020 as a 2yo. He is also closely related to Group winners Scottish and Royal Empire, both by Teofilo, and is from the immediate family of Classic-winning miler Precieuse (Gr.1 French 1000 Guineas), Harmless Albatross, and Volochine.

His dam is MADANY, a winning daughter of Acclamation, who is a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner Zeiting, the dam of Combat Zone, Champion Older Horse in Italy, and Scottish (by Teofilo), winner of the G3 Strensall Stakes and second in the G1 Caulfield Cup.
