A nice start to the new year for Captain Gerrard with the first win for his progeny in 2019, as his son CAPTAIN RYAN gained another victory in a competitive handicap at Wolverhampton today over the minimum trip. The 8yo gelding hadn’t won for some time but that was his seventh career win and he had had enjoyed previous course and distance success. The first-time cheekpieces appeared to have a positive effect on this drop back to 5f, and he got the job done nicely in the end. Well done to trainer Geoff Deacon, jockey Kieran O’Neill, and owner R J Douglas.
