After some frustrating seconds recently for Heeraat’s 2 year olds, it was good to see our stallion get another winner at Redcar on Sunday when FREED FROM DESIRE landed the EBF Novice Stakes over 6 furlongs. Heeraat’s progeny have gone close on a few occasions in the past few weeks, with a number of them “hitting the post”, notably Magical Wish from the Richard Hannon stable (who was beaten only a short head on his debut in a Class 2 event at Salisbury), as well as Haadhir, and a close second from Freed From Desire herself at Chelmsford. This time she went one better in a decent juvenile novice contest, where they went a decent gallop and she managed to bravely tough it out in a tight finish. Congratulations to connections, trainer Ivan Furtado, and jockey Franny Norton.
