Three Mickley-bred winners of note today!
Great to breed another 2 year old winner for top trainer Dave Evans! HOTALENA, by Hot Streak out of Ya Halla, won the Nursery Handicap at Newcastle Racecourse. Held up in the rear by Andrew Mullen, he shook her up over 2f out, and made headway from over 1f out, taking the lead inside the final half furlong and staying on well towards the finish. The race set things up for those coming from behind, and she finished her race off well.
Later on the same card there was a memorable success for our former mare Gagajulu as her 11th individual winner THE MACKEM TORPEDO landed the prize money in the second division of the 6f handicap. The four year old might have enjoyed a stronger gallop but he was good enough to overcome the lack of early pace. The drop back to 6f seemed to suit too , and there sprinting suited him well, and there’s every chance he can go on from this for Brian Ellison. Congratulations to rider Graham Lee and owners Ian & Thomas Pallas.
At Southwell, the Heeraat gelding Luscifer won again for Tony Carroll, putting in an unbelievably tough performance in the fibresand for rider Ben Curtis. Out of the Fasliyev mare Nut, who has already produced a multiple winner in Awa Bomba who is also by Heeraat, this was a strong performance. Congratulations to connections
Liam Norris Bloodstock.
