LADY CAROLINE, with John Egan on board, won at Chester for trainer Tom Dascombe and owners Canning Kent Lowther Mossop Owen. The filly is a half-sister to Havana Grey and looked to have plenty on her plate when missing the break, but having made her ground gradually she responded well to her rider’s urgings and chased the leaders 2f out, went second inside the final furlong, and ran on well inside final 110yds to poke her nose in front right on the line, despite being carried right by the favourite. She has improved with every start!
