LIBBERTY HUNTER, by YORGUNNABELUCKY, landed the bumper at Chepstow and was carrying a 7lb penalty for winning a Hereford bumper just over a year earlier.
This was an impressive performance and a terrific training accomplishment to have him in such great condition coming off such a lay-off. A home-bred by trainer Brian Eckley, he is from the family of several jumps winners, and looks to have a nice future.
Libberty Hunter was dubbed Britain’s bravest racehorse when he won his first bumper at Hereford last year, as he had recovered from life-threatening injuries sustained in a senseless drone attack while in the field at home.
It took two patient years of specialist veterinary treatment to keep the gelding alive, beat an infection, and get him back to fitness.
Congratulations for Brian Eckley on a stunning achievement!
