RAISE A SPARK, by Multiplex, a four-time winner over hurdles who showed up well at Perth earlier in the month, was held up by rider Brian Hughes for as long as possible before bounding clear on this debut over fences. He led going well entering home straight, and drew clear approaching the finish to win readily by 5 lengths. His winning has been on softer ground, but he handled conditions well and this was a bright start to his chasing career for trainer Donald McCain.
